What typically feels like a chore was completed in half the usual time, leaving me with a sense of accomplishment and peace. This small victory underscores a powerful truth: there is an undeniable magic, a unique power, in our mornings. The world feels quieter, distractions are fewer, and tasks seem simpler. Prayer feels more profound, creative thoughts flow with greater ease, and productivity often peaks. I wholeheartedly encourage you to tap into this incredible resource. Celebrating Four Years: A Homeschooling Triumph and Developmental Milestones

Speaking of powerful moments, my beautiful, spirited mini-me just turned four last week! It’s incredible how quickly these precious years fly by, each one filled with new discoveries and boundless joy. To mark this special occasion, and quite coincidentally on her actual birthday, I took her for an early childhood developmental screening. This is a crucial 30-minute session where a children’s expert assesses a child’s cognitive, social, emotional, language, and physical development across a wide spectrum of areas. As a homeschooling parent, my heart was a mix of curiosity and nervousness. My daughter has never set foot in a traditional classroom, and while I pour my heart and soul into her education, a part of me wondered: is my approach truly effective? This screening felt like the moment of truth, a chance to see if our homeschooling journey was truly equipping her with the skills and knowledge she needs.

And guess what? She absolutely excelled! She answered every single question correctly, demonstrating understanding and capabilities far beyond what was expected for her age group. The wonderful specialist conducting the screening turned to me with a beaming smile and said, “Whatever you are doing, keep doing it.” Those words, brimming with affirmation, filled me with an indescribable sense of happiness and immense gratitude. It was a validation not just of her brilliant mind, but of our choice to homeschool and the dedication we invest daily. Thank you, Jesus, for this beautiful confirmation!

To celebrate her outstanding achievement and this wonderful milestone, I took my girl on a special shopping trip. I gave her the exciting task of picking ten things she truly loved. Her selections were a delightful array of colorful toys, engaging coloring books, and various whimsical children’s treasures. While these new additions have certainly added a new dimension of playful clutter to our kitchen space, they are a sweet reminder of her joy and accomplishments. It’s these small, personalized celebrations that create lasting memories and reinforce the magic of childhood.

Protective Styles and Precious Moments: The Art of Braiding

The weekend also brought another personal victory: I was able to braid my elder daughter’s hair into beautiful yarn braids. This protective hairstyle is not only stylish but also fantastic for promoting hair health and growth, reducing manipulation, and adding a unique touch with colorful yarn. I typically love to adorn the ends with vibrant rubber bands, but sometimes they have a tendency to detach. So, this time, my thoughtful husband, Mr. N, gently singed the edges of the yarn. This technique, known as cauterizing, helps to seal the yarn, making the braids look incredibly sleek and ensuring they last much longer. His attention to detail and willingness to help with these little tasks always warms my heart. I truly adore that man.

Then, a truly miraculous event unfolded: I finally managed to braid my toddler’s hair! Anyone with a spirited toddler knows the monumental challenge of getting them to sit still for more than a nanosecond, let alone for a complex task like hair braiding. I can’t count the number of times I’ve attempted, pursued, and gently cajoled her, often to no avail. For a while, she’d been sporting her lovely, naturally curly hair, sometimes leading to innocent, albeit amusing, questions. Someone once very sweetly asked if I was intentionally grooming her hair into dreadlocks. Ha! But this weekend, with a stroke of luck and perhaps a moment of toddler cooperation, I succeeded! The joy of seeing her hair neatly styled was truly immeasurable, a small triumph in the grand scheme of parenting.

“Manger Things”: Unpacking the Supernatural in Our Lives

In church, we recently embarked on a captivating new sermon series titled “Manger Things.” This series has challenged us to look beyond the familiar narrative of Christmas and truly contemplate the extraordinary, supernatural events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ. We’ve delved into profound questions that defy human logic and understanding:

How could a virgin miraculously conceive a child?

How could the King of kings, the Creator of the universe, choose to be born in such humble circumstances – a manger, of all places?

How did an angel, a messenger from the divine realm, suddenly appear and speak directly to Mary, delivering such a momentous message?

These are not mere historical accounts; they are profound examples of the supernatural breaking into the natural world. They reveal that God’s power and wisdom transcend everything we see, know, and logically comprehend. His ways are far beyond human reasoning, often defying the very laws of physics and biology we observe. The “Manger Things” teach us that miracles are not relics of a distant past; they are as relevant and accessible today as they were over two millennia ago. God continues to work wonders and perform the impossible, just as He did in the days of Jesus.
